Google Gears Up to Compete Against ChatGPT.

ChatGPT, Chatbot, OpenAI

Google is set to challenge OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a language model with over 100 million active users in just two months of its release.

The media invitation doesn’t reveal much, but it hints at how Google plans to use AI technology to revolutionize how people search, access, and interact with information.

The company’s new AI-powered search companion aims to provide more natural responses and relevant information through various properties like Search, Maps, and others.

While ChatGPT is available to the public, Google’s AI currently has limited access. The upcoming product or service is expected to be made public and compete directly with ChatGPT, which Google views as a “code red existential threat.”

It’s unclear whether Google will make the “Apprentice Bard” AI chatbot, which uses LaMDA conversational technology and has sentience, public. The chatbot was confined to beta tests and Google’s engineers and was not released to the public, which may have contributed to the popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and DALL-E.

Google also faces stiff competition from Microsoft, which has a significant investment in OpenAI. Microsoft already has powerful language models and plans to expand into areas like Google Lens, Translate, Maps, Shopping, and its Search business.
