The concept of Smart Glasses by Xiaomi turns to reality. In less than one year, Xiaomi Smart Glasses with camera launched under its Mijia Ecosystem on 1st August. Glasses are now officially online for pre-order at the company’s own crowdfunding platform Xiaomi Youpin. Crowdfunding of the product is getting started on 3rd August at 10:00 with the price of 2499 yuan (approx $369) while the retail price is expected to be 2699 yuan (approx $399).
In these Smart Glasses, the customer will be getting a dual camera setup. Where the primary camera is of 50MP main sensor with Quad Bayer four-in-one wide-angle. The secondary camera is having 8MP sensor with periscopic telephoto and split OIS optical stabilization. Equipped cameras can perform 5x optical zoom along with a hybrid zoom of 15x. Despite having dual head-mounted cameras, the glasses weigh only 100g.
Apart from that, Sony manufactured silicon-based Micro OLED display is being used in the glasses with a peak brightness of 3000 nits, and it is capped at 1800 nits to the eye. A density of 3281 PPI will be seen. Display hardware is certified with the anti-blue light certification by Rheinland.
The device is supporting second-level rush capture along with the backtracking function. This results in retention of the image content 10 seconds before pressing the shutter to avoid missing the difficulty to capture the moment. All of these functionalities facilitate the real-time recording.
Additionally, being the product of the Mijia Ecosystem, the glasses also supports connectivity with smartphones via the app. Rapid import and sharing of the photos are also supported. Along with the photography function, Glasses also work as AR Glasses with the support of an in-built Snapdragon 8 Core independent computing platform.
Moreover, the glasses are providing functions like real-time translation between English and Chinese. Also, can guide the use of the Mi Glasses camera through AR effects, such as the botanical garden, zoo, and screencasting. More features are expected to be online in the subsequent OTA update.
Security & Privacy
As far as the security is concerned, the Mijia Glasses App account and the product are bound. Personal data cannot be accessible to other users. The glasses come with built-in storage and the internal data can not be read in case of accidental loss.
In addition to security, privacy has been also taken care of by the production team. to ensure the privacy of the subject being photographed, an LED indicator is mounted in front of the glasses, the indicator turns on when opening the photo or recording, this prompt others that photo is being clicked or the recording is happening.
